At CES 2026, Google DeepMind announced a partnership with Boston Dynamics to integrate its Gemini-class multimodal AI models into Boston Dynamics' new electric Atlas humanoid robot. This collaboration is considered one of the most significant robotics collaborations of the 2020s, bridging the "brain-body" gap in robotics. The new Atlas will be capable of adapting to changing workflows without reprogramming, understanding natural language commands, and interpreting its physical surroundings in real-time, moving AI from screen-based interactions to embodied intelligence in the physical world.
