OpenAI and Microsoft have failed in their attempts to avoid a trial concerning Elon Musk's lawsuit, which alleges that OpenAI betrayed its original mission as a non-profit entity when it accepted substantial funding from Microsoft and shifted towards a for-profit model. A federal judge in Oakland, California, rejected the dismissal requests from both OpenAI and Microsoft on Thursday, ordering the case to proceed to a jury trial scheduled for late April. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015, launched his own AI company in 2023. OpenAI has stated that Musk's lawsuit is 'baseless' and part of an 'ongoing pattern of harassment,' asserting their continued focus on empowering the OpenAI Foundation.
