The Trump administration has approved the export of Nvidia's powerful H200 artificial intelligence chips to Chinese buyers, subject to new security requirements. These conditions include ensuring an adequate supply of chips in the U.S. and a third-party review before export. China is prohibited from using the chips for military purposes and cannot import more than 50% of the chips sold to U.S. customers. Nvidia welcomed the decision, stating it strikes a balance that supports competition, high-paying jobs, and manufacturing in America. The H200 is not Nvidia's most advanced chip, with more powerful products like Blackwell and Rubin excluded from the approved exports.
